Detailed Description

Corson Myoma Grasping Forceps, 7mm Jaws, 33cm (13")

The Corson Myoma Grasping Forceps (CF) was designed with the help of Stephen Corson, MD from Philadelphia. He asked us for an instrument that could be passed through the cervical canal without having to dilate (stretch the cervical canal) too far.

The shaft of the instrument is long and narrow and does not open like a typical “box lock” instrument that would require heavy dilation. When the handle is opened only the jaws on the distal end move.

The purpose of the instrument is to remove polyps from the uterus. The jaws of the instrument are purposely very tenacious, so that when the polyp is grasped it can not pull free from the jaws.

The polyp in the uterus is similar in shape to a grape with a short stem. What the physician does with the Corson Myoma Grasping Forceps is to insert the instrument through the cervical canal and into the uterus. The jaws are then opened and the polyp grasped in the jaws. The physician rotates the instrument and breaks the polyp off at the stem, then removes the instrument with the polyp still in the jaws.

The Corson Myoma Grasping Forceps (CF) comes in three jaw sizes: 7mm, 11mm and 17mm wide.
